Splendora at her best in Del Mar’s Tranquility Lake S.

Splendora led every step of the way in Monday’s $100,000 Tranquility Lake S. at Del Mar to give the 4-year-old daughter of Audible her first stakes win.

After winning a Del Mar allowance race on July 24^th from off the pace, Splendora changed tactics and went right to the front in the one-mile Tranquility Lake. As she passed each pole, she increased her margin on the field, ultimately coming home a 5 ½-length winner in 1:34.55.

“She won earlier in the meet and I think she got confidence and got brave,” jockey Juan Hernandez said of the winner.

Splendora, who has placed second in two graded stakes earlier this year, is now 4-4-0 in nine starts, with earnings of $344,800 for owner By Talla Racing LLC. Her second-place finishes came stablemates Richi (CHI) in the Santa Maria S. (G2) and Seismic Beauty in the Santa Margarita (G2).
