More stakes success for Tough Tiz’s Sis

In the past 14 months, Tough Tiz’s Sis has started in 12 consecutive stakes races at seven tracks in five states – California, New York, New Mexico, New Jersey and Kentucky. When the Bob Baffert trainee captured the Hawthorne Handicap (G3) at Hollywood Park on May 4, it brought her record in those races to 5-3-1.

A 4-year-old daughter of Tiznow, Tough Tiz’s Sis won the $108,500 Hawthorne at a mile and a sixteenth by three-quarters of a length under Aaron Gryder. She raced the distance in 1:41.84, a little more than a second off the track record, and picked up a check for $65,100. That pushed her earnings to $627,792 on a sterling record of 7-4-2 in 17 starts for owners Watson and Weitman Performances LLC.

“She ran like we hoped for her to run and that’s to win,” Baffert said. “She likes this track.
