Marley’s Freedom rolls in Desert Stormer S. (G3)
Cicero Farms’ Marley’s Freedom cruised to a 7 1/4-length win in the $100,000 Desert Stormer S. (G3) on Sunday at Santa Anita Park, the first stakes win for the 4-year-old Bob Baffert trainee.
Benefiting from a torrid pace early on, Marley’s Freedom began to rapidly close in on the lead with three furlongs to run. Rolling by Miss Sunset at the top of the stretch, she went on to win in style, stopping the timer in 1:09.31 for the six furlongs.
“I was smiling when I saw those three gun out of there,” said winning rider Drayden Van Dyke. “It felt like I had a ton of horse all the way around there. This was her best race by far today.”
Marley’s Freedom, who was second in the Santa Monica S. (G2) in March, is now 4-2-0 in 10 starts and has earned $233,435.
