Baoma Corporation’s 2-year-old filly earned her first stakes win Sunday at Santa Anita Park with a 2 ¾-length score in the $75,000 Anokia S.

The daughter of Munnings was a close second in the Sorrento S. (G2) in August and is now 2-1-0 in four starts and has earned $130,000.

Eda, in post 1 with Flavien Prat, let Shes Bout a Mover take the early lead, with Prat moving Eda off the rail to take up the second spot down the backstretch. Eda came along side Shes  Bout a Mover on the turn and easily took the lead just before entering the homestretch. Eda opened up without being asked and cruised through the lane to win in hand in 1:10.41 for the six fulrongs on a fast track.

“She was in the one hole and there was speed in the race,” said Baffert.  “She did that in her first race (a nose defeat in a June 19 maiden special weight race at Santa Anita), but she couldn’t do it in her last race at Del Mar, there was too much traffic.  It was a nice win.  I think one turn is her game, so we’ll just keep her (sprinting) for now.”

Eda’s sire was a top-class sprinter in his own right, while her dam Show Me is a sister to the graded stakes-winning sprinter Aegean. Baoma purchased Eda for $550,000 at this year’s OBS March 2-year-old sale.
