Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert picked up his fourth Eclipse Award for Outstanding Trainer Saturday evening at the Awards ceremony at Gulfstream Park.

Baffert, who won the Award three straight times from 1997-1999, and he reflected on the drought while accepting the award.

“We had a phenomenal year; I never thought I’d win another one of these, the competition has been very fierce, said Baffert. “Every trainer dreams of a horse like American Pharoah. Most of all, I want to thank all the wives of trainers, who have to sacrifice so much.”

Baffert’s year was topped obviously by Horse of the Year and 3-year-old Champion American Pharoah, one of his 23 graded stakes winners in 2015.

With the award, Baffert also became the first trainer in the Eclipse Award’s history to train two different horses to championship honors as both a 2-year-old and 3-year-old. He first achieved the accomplishment with Lookin At Lucky in 2009-2010.

Baffert’s top horses of 2015 besides American Pharoah include Mor Spirit (Los Alamitos Futurity -G1), Callback (Las Virgenes – G1), Dortmund (Santa Anita Derby – G1), Secret Circle (Dubai Golden Shaheen – G1), Pretty N Cool (Matron – G2), and Gimme Da Lute (Los Alamitos Derby – G2).
