Baffert to saddle an even dozen in 2025 Breeders’ Cup
Bob Baffert, the Breeders’ Cup all-time leading trainer by purses won, with over $42 million, has 12 horses entered in the Oct. 31-Nov. 1 championships at Del Mar.
Baffert has four entered Friday’s races, which showcase the 2-year-olds, with two each in the Juvenile Fillies (G1) and Juvenile (G1).
In the Fillies, Del Mar Debutante (G1) winner Bottle of Rouge drew post 2, while Oak Leaf S. (G2) winner is in post 7. The 1 1/16-mile race is #7 on the card, with a post of 6:25 pm ET.
In the Juvenile, race 9 at 7:45 pm ET, Baffert has Grade 1-placed Litmus Test in post 6 and undefeated Brant, winner of the Del Mar Futurity (G1), in post 7.
Moving to Saturday, Baffert has runners in five races, starting with the trio of Splendora (#2), Hope Road (#8) and Richi (#9) in the Filly & Mare Sprint (G1), which runs at 3 pm ET.
Baffert has Imagination in the Sprint (G1), which runs at 4:21 pm ET. Imagination, winner of the Santa Anita Sprint Championship (G1) last time out, would give Baffert a record sixth win in the race.
One race later in the Distaff (G1), Baffert’s Seismic Beauty drew post 8 and is the early favorite off wins in the Clement L. Hirsch (G1) and Santa Margarita S. (G2). The Distaff runs at 5:01 pm ET.
In the featured $7 million Classic, which Baffert has won a record four times, Baffert’s Nevada Beach drew post 4. The 3-year-old colt, who won the Goodwood S. (G1) last time out, will face arguably the best Classic field in history. The race is scheduled to run at 6:25 pm ET.
Baffert wraps up his day when he saddles three runners in the Dirt Mile (G1), race 11 at 7:45 pm ET. Goal Oriented, who has three consecutive bullet workouts, is in post 2. Nysos, the 8-5 favorite, drew post 3. Citizen Bull, last year’s 2-year-old champion, is in post 7.
The Breeders’ Cup is airing live across NBC, USA Network and Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, as well as on multiple online wagering platforms.
