Salahudin dominates Ellis Park Juvenile

Salahudin is a perfect 2-for-2 following his 4 ½-length win in Sunday’s $250,000 Ellis Park Juvenile S.

The Bob Baffert-trained 2-year-old colt broke his maiden in his July 17 debut, also at Ellis Park, and has earned $210,462 for owner Zedan Racing Stables Inc.

Similar to his performance in his first race, Salahudin stalked the early pace in third before making a three-wide move on the turn for the lead. Clearly in front turning for home, he bounded clear down the lane to win very handily in 1:23.34 for the seven furlongs on a fast track.

“He seemed like he learned from his debut and was able to put himself into the race early [today] without the rider having to ask him,” Baffert’s assistant Dan Ward said. “It was a nice step forward in his progression.”

Salahudin’s pedigree hints at plenty of promise for the future. He is by Uncle Mo and is out of Weekend Strike, who is a half-sister to five-time Grade 1 winner Court Vision. This is also the family of Hall of Famer A.P. Indy.
