Himika back to winning ways with blowout Anoakia S. win

After Himika tried two turns for the first time in the Oct. 4 Oak Leaf S. (G2), Bob Baffert felt the filly was suited best going one turn. Sunday’s Anoakia S. was the perfect spot for the 2-year-old filly’s return as she rolled to a 4 ¼-length victory in the six-furlong sprint.
Himika sat in an ideal spot while third outside a pair of dueling pacesetters. Around the turn Himika effortless glided to the lead while three-wide and turned for home with a one-length lead over Revera. She pulled away easily under a hand ride from Juan Hernandez, who eased his filly up in the final sixteenth.
“I was happy that she is back to winning form,” said Baffert. “She basically told us, no two turns for now but maybe down the road. Maybe something like the Test. You know, I think she is that kind of filly.”
Himika, who won the Sorrento S. (G3) this summer, is now 3-0-0 in five starts and has earned $202,822 for the Baoma Corp.
