Chandelier S. (G1) goes to Noted and Quoted
Sunday, October 2, 2016
Noted and Quoted, making her first start around two turns in the $300,000 Chandelier S. (G1) on Saturday, found the perfect time to earn her first stakes win with a gritty half-length victory to earn a starting berth in next month's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).

The 2-year-old filly is also the record 10th winner in the race for her trainer Bob Baffert, who scored seven wins in the 1 1/16-mile contest before 2012, when it was known as the Oak Leaf S.

The race, which had a field of 11 starters, turned into a match race between the winner and With Honors after that duo shook clear of American Cleopatra with three furlongs to run. Early on, it was With Honors in front, but Noted and Quoted, on her outside, took over near the top of the stretch and would never relinquish the lead.

The final time was 1:44.88 on a fast main track.

“When they turned for home, I thought, ‘That’s a good filly (With Honors) that ran second.’ I have a lot of respect for her,” said Baffert. “(Noted and Quoted) is a very slight filly. I don’t have to do a lot with her, but the fact that she’s already proved she can go two turns, that’s what we were trying to find out with her. I’m pretty proud of her effort, because she ran against a really great filly.”

Noted and Quoted is owned by Peter Fluor of Houston, who races as Speedway Stable, LLC. He purchased the daughter of War Front for $375,000 at this year's OBS March 2-year-old Selected Sale.
