Kentucky-bred Internallyflawless is out of the Seeking the Gold mare Tapatina, a half sister to 1996 European champion three-year-old filly Bosra Sham and French classic winners and sires Hector Protector and Shanghai.

Internallyflawless showed promise as a two-year-old for Baffert, winning a maiden special weight race by a length on the grass at the Oak Tree meeting at Santa Anita Park and following with a runner-up finish in the Miesque Stakes (G3) on the Hollywood Park turf course.

After a last-place finish in the Blue Norther Stakes at Santa Anita, Baffert gave her some time off. She returned at Del Mar with a fourth-place finish, beaten by 1 1/4 lengths in the San Clemente Handicap (G2), a race that set her up ideally for the Del Mar Oaks.
